Bruce Rosar's Bicycling Biography

Bruce Rosar has been bicycling in the Triangle area of North Carolina for over two decades. He enjoys cycling for transportation, exercise and stress-relief. Bruce is a Director of the North Carolina Active Transportation Alliance, a founding member of the NC Coalition for Bicycle Driving, the Education Officer for the NC Bicycle Club, the elected representative for Region 3 on the League of American Bicyclists Board and a member of the CAMPO Bicycle/Pedestrian Stakeholders Group.

In 2008, Bruce appeared on News-14 Carolina TV and was featured in the Independent Weekly, the News & Observer and the Cary News. Bruce was a BCBSNC Foundation sponsored Blue Biker from 2001 thru 2004. From 2001 to 2002, he was a member of the Task Force which developed the CAMPO Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan. In 1999 and 2000, Bruce provided expert advice to the Citizens Advisory Committee for the Bicycle Element of the Cary Transportation Plan (as acknowledged in the "4 E's of Cycling" section).

Bruce was President of the NC Bicycle Club during 2002 and 2003. The rest-stops for the Tarwheels Bicycle Club's BikeFest 2000 were organized by Bruce. He acted as the cycling advisor for the annual Pilot Club bike rodeo in Cary from 1994 to 2001. During 1994, Bruce edited the monthly newsletter of the NC Bicycle Club.

Bruce has given presentations about bicycling at two of the largest companies in Research Triangle Park while also teaching Street Cycling courses for Triangle Roadway Bicycling. As one of the most experienced and active bicycling instructors in North Carolina, Bruce teaches adults how to cycle safely and efficiently on the roads. He has taught Smart Cycling TM courses at bike rallies in

Smart Cycling is the primary education program of the League of American Bicyclists, and is the only nationally recognized program of this type with certified instructors. As the only national organization whose focus is bicycling advocacy and education, the League supports the "right of bicyclist access to the transportation system of streets, highways and other facilities—including secure bicycle parking—and the destinations that system serves."
